Privacy Policy

Who we are
Screenwage (“Screenwage”, “we”, “us”) is an iPhone app published by the developer named as the seller on Screenwage's App Store page, based in Lebanon. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us any time at [email protected].
This policy covers the Screenwage app and screenwageapp.com. By using them you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use Screenwage.
The short version
- The apps and websites you lock never leave your iPhone. We only ever see how many you chose.
- The camera and motion sensors are used on your iPhone only. No images or sensor recordings are saved or sent.
- We keep what is needed to run your account: your grain ledger, focus sessions, unlocks and settings.
- We do not sell or share your personal data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can export or delete your data from inside the app at any time.
What stays on your iPhone
- The apps, categories and websites you lock. Apple's Screen Time system gives Screenwage anonymous tokens, not names. They are stored only on your device, and are never uploaded, logged or sent to anyone, including us.
- Camera. Focus Dock uses the camera, through Apple's ARKit, to place a focus zone on your desk. Frames are processed on your iPhone in real time and are never recorded, saved or transmitted.
- Motion. Focus Dock and Stay Put read your iPhone's motion sensors to know whether it is lying still. Only the result (for example, how long a session was paused) becomes part of the session. The raw readings are not stored or sent.
- Your exchange rate, notification preferences and some display settings. These are stored on the device.
What we collect
- Account identifiers. When you first open the app, a random account ID is created so your balance has a secure home. It does not identify you personally.
- Sign-in details (optional). If you create an account: your email address (and a securely hashed password if you use email), or the details Apple or Google provide when you choose them. That is your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address) and, if you allow it, your name.
- Your ledger and activity. Grains earned, spent and returned; focus sessions (start and end times, mode, verified duration); unlocks (length and times); your daily spending limit and strictness; the date of any one-off welcome grant.
- Device record. A random installation ID and the app version, so your data syncs to the right place. We do not collect advertising identifiers or hardware identifiers.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription or trial, the product, and its renewal and expiry dates. Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your card or bank details.
- Weekly board (optional). If you join, the username you choose and your verified focus minutes for the week are visible to other Screenwage users who view the board. You can leave at any time.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services in the app. If that changes, we will update this policy before it happens.
Why we use it
- To provide Screenwage (performance of our contract with you): earning and spending grains, syncing your balance, restoring purchases, and keeping your progress if you change phones.
- To keep it fair and secure (our legitimate interests): verifying that focus time is real, preventing abuse of grains, subscriptions and the weekly board, and protecting accounts.
- Optional features (your consent): the weekly board, notifications, and camera access for Focus Dock. You can withdraw consent in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.
- To meet legal obligations, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who processes it for us
We share personal data only with providers that help us run Screenwage, under contracts that limit how they may use it:
- Supabase hosts our database and account sign-in. Servers are in Frankfurt, Germany.
- RevenueCat manages subscription status on our behalf, using purchase information from Apple (United States).
- Apple provides the App Store, payments, Sign in with Apple, Screen Time and notifications, under Apple's own privacy policy.
- Google provides Google sign-in if you choose it, under Google's own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and forwards email sent to our addresses.
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of Screenwage, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including Germany, the United States and Lebanon. Where the law requires it, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by our providers.
How long we keep it
- Account data is kept while your account exists, and deleted when you delete it.
- An unused anonymous account (one with no activity and no subscription) is deleted automatically after 30 days.
- After an anonymous account is merged into a signed-in account, the old anonymous account is deleted after 7 days.
- Backups may keep copies for a short period before they are overwritten.
- Records we must keep by law are kept only as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Export: in the app, Settings → Privacy → Export, for a copy of your data.
- Delete: in the app, Settings → Privacy → Delete cloud data, or Delete account. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Permissions: you can turn off Screen Time access, camera, motion and notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To use any of them, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time the law requires, usually 30 days, and may need to verify your identity first.
European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland: you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California and other US states: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require an opt-out. You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Your sign-in session is stored in the iPhone Keychain. Our database only lets each account read its own records, and changes to your balance are validated on our servers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
Screenwage is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Anyone under 18, or the age of majority where they live, should use Screenwage with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app for material changes. Continuing to use Screenwage after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
